Day One

Morning

Begin your first day here in this city with a delectable breakfast overlooking the deep blue seas and the golden sandy beach. Restaurants such as Sakalan and Darbat provide multi-cuisine menus with a vast selection of food. For an authentic local experience, visit the Souly Eco Lodge restaurant, which serves Mediterranean cuisine and has fantastic seating in wooden beach huts. Then go east to Taqah Castle, which is about 11 kilometres away. The castle has been one of the country's most stunning historical sites and a great example of Omani architecture.

Afternoon

Drive towards the east to reach Samharam's Old City, which is 8.8 kilometres from the castle. The settlement is said to have been a stop along the historic frankincense trade route in Oman's southern area. Its harbour was well-known for transporting fine Omani frankincense to royalty all over the world. A trip to the city is a must-do for everyone interested in history as well as Omani culture. Then go to the neighbouring Archaeological Gallery to learn more about the culture and the city's importance.

Evening

Return to Salalah's downtown area and see the gorgeous Taqah beach. The gallery is around 12 kilometres away. The beach is known for its breathtaking white beaches and clear blue waves. The sunset here presents a once-in-a-lifetime moment. Ajyad restaurant is located right beside the beach and offers a delicious supper with a spectacular view of the coastline. After, continue walking north for a few metres until you approach Masjid Shiekhia Salma Bint Ahmed. This is one of Salalah's most exquisite mosques. If you’re done for the day, then you can relax at an Oman spa. You may want to check out accommodation that provides spa facilities if you would like to unwind after a long day. For instance, you can check out spas at properties like Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara.

Night

Most establishments shut between 10 and 11 pm, with malls and shopping complexes closing later. So, spend the extra time you might be presented with shopping in Salalah's malls or relaxing in one of the cafes with some Omani hot beverages and delectable treats.

Day Two

Morning

Begin your second day with a special Mediterranean breakfast at a popular Lebanese eatery. Then travel to the Sultan Qaboos Mosque. It is Salalah's biggest mosque, and it is known for its outstanding Omani architecture and superb décor, which also include crystal chandeliers, stunning carpets, and intricate wall patterns. Travel east on Ar Rubat Street until the second roundabout, wherein Al-Nahda Tower is located. This is an iconic landmark that represents Salalah, the country's second-biggest city.

Afternoon

Keep on driving for another 8 kilometres to the Al Balid Archaeological Site, one of Salalah's most popular tourist destinations. It is a World Heritage Site as well. Visitors may take uninterrupted golf cart excursions to view the whole property and understand its history. Now go to the Museum of the Frankincense Land, which is located immediately close to the archaeological site. Here you may discover all there is to know about Oman's famed frankincense tree, as well as the fascinating history of the frankincense trade involving civilisations from all over the globe.

Evening

You must try authentic Omani cuisine before leaving Salalah. Enjoy some Omani pastries or Omani coffee after a delicious local lunch. Then drive for around 4 km to Salalah's Public Park. Take in the fresh air and pleasant weather or strike up a conversation with a few of the locals.
