What better way to take in what the Nam Song offers than in an inflated tube ride? This offers a delightful few hours floating downriver through the forest, rice fields, and cliffs. It has long been a rite of passage for Western visitors in Laos. Start early to preserve the 2nd part of the day for something else. If you're visiting in October, right after the wet season, be warned that the river runs quickly, so be cautious. Try the zip line in the afternoon, which involves being strapped to a cable and flying over a green canopy just over a river, valleys, and forests. Pizza Luka is a splendid place to dine in Vang Vieng.

When you arrive in Luang Prabang, go directly to the peninsula to visit some of the 33 wats (temples), walk along the riverbank, stop at cafés, and watch the sunset over the mighty Mekong. In the evening, take a walk through the Handicraft Night Market, where you can get Laos specialities like handcrafted quilt covers or silk at a bargain. Also, make sure you book your accommodation in advance. For instance, you can check out Luang Prabang hotels the likes of Avani+ Luang Prabang for a comfortable stay.
