About Mui Ne
Travelling around Mui Ne is somewhat easy as the whole region is joined by a stretch of road called Nguyen Dinh Chieu. The north of Mui Ne Bay, particularly the end is nearly untouched by constructions. The locality is based around a traditional fishing community with quite a few stunning villages. The scenery offers picturesque views of the beach and interesting fishing vessels anchored on the water. The southern area is quite popular for travellers worldwide and is booming with tourism. There is a wide range of restaurants and shopping available. Many luxurious beachside resorts can be found here as well such as the Anantara Mui Ne Resort. Most visitors may simply just wish to bask in the luxury of their beachside accommodation. Or just perhaps head to the nearby eateries, cafes and shops as the need arises. But for exploring Mui Ne to the fullest there are several major forms of transport available.
Xe Om – The Motorcycle taxi
Xe Om is a motorcycle taxi, and these can be found all over Mui Ne. They are more commonly found close to hotels, cafes and restaurants as well as in the most prominent attraction sites. For example, at places like Phan Thiet Central Market and Van Thuy Tu Temple you can easily hail one down. A quick trip can cost about VND 20,000. However, lower prices are possible if you can haggle a bit with the driver. Expect prices to be higher at night, particularly if you’re signalling a Xe Om outside from a restaurant or a club.
Metered Taxi
Metered taxis are a convenient option as well and can be readily found outside leading hotels and attractions. They are a great way to get about Mui Ne. Most travellers prefer to take taxis, especially those arriving from Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport. The taxi drivers are usually decently versed in English.
For more added value it is recommended to get into a metered taxi than hailing a taxi for a standard rate, especially from places like the airport. The general price range is VND 10,000 for each kilometre and VND 12,000 is added thereafter for subsequent distances.
Try a motorbike hire for ultimate freedom
Hiring a motorcycle is perfect if you want to have total freedom to travel where you please in Mui Ne. The daily rental rates are valued at VND 120,000 and above. It is quite easy to travel by motorcycles in Mui Ne as most are below 150cc and provided with fully automatic or semi-automatic gears. The traffic situation can get quite chaotic in Mui Ne around peak hours. So, make sure to drive carefully. Or choose less congested hours for an easier drive.
Hire a Jeep to visit the dunes
You can hire a jeep especially if you are travelling to the famous Red and White Sand Dunes, which is one of the best Things To Do in Mui Ne. Due to its fame amongst international travellers, many tour operators now offer various types of packages, that cover both trips. The price points of course will vary. But you can expect to pay around USD 35 if you fancy driving by yourself. On the other hand, individual sunset or a sunrise tour can cost around USD 30 and above.
