How to Choose Travel Clothing

If you are a traveller or planning to begin feeding your passion for the wanderlust, clothing is more important than you think. When you travel to a new land, you are going to want to explore everything from historic sites to religious sites and don't forget the beaches. By all means, do so but remember to keep in mind the culture of the country you are touring. Even your clothes will have to match up to it.
Ask yourself – does it fit in any background?
No matter where you travel to, the clothing options are always similar in countries belonging to that specific region. Therefore, you can categorise your clothes accordingly. However, a few clothes that do go in any setting are maxi dresses which are wearable for an evening out by the beach or even a visit to a temple provided the neckline isn't too low. Button-up blouses are another light and an easy-to-pack item that is wonderful in any setup – being too transparent though might be a bit of an issue. Shorts are awesome for the beach, still, the question of how short it can be is daunting. Studying the culture of your destination beforehand could do you some good in this case.
For instance, in the Maldives, you must wear conservative clothing even when dining at Maldives island resorts the likes of Naladhu Private Island Maldives. Bikinis are not allowed at public beaches but might be alright at your resort. Remember to confirm before you pack in the items.
Ask yourself – is it multipurpose?
So, when it comes to packing light, being prepared for every possibility when it comes to clothing might not help enough with the weight of your luggage. Instead, select clothing that is multipurpose, so you can either wear it casually or add up a few accessories to pimp your outfit a little bit more for an evening out. Convertible pants are a good option but be warned! They aren't always the most flattering clothing around. Packing in a cute cocktail dress though might come in handy when you least expect it.
Ask yourself – is it durable?
Yet another good question is if the clothing you have selected is durable or not. Of course, the more expensive clothing has got to be more durable as materials will be of higher quality. But inexpensive items wear off faster especially if you take them on travel. This clothing will be constantly worn, washed and dried, perhaps by the lauders at the hotel you will be staying at. Therefore, pack something that you are willing to easily put away when they are hacked.
Ask yourself – will packing light take too much luggage space?
You'll need all the luggage space you can get on your return journey home to squeeze in all those chocolates and other souvenirs you will be bringing back. Therefore, it is important to pack your clothing in a way that takes up less space. Some clothes are quite bulky and can take up unnecessary space, especially if they aren't multipurpose. Here's a small tip to put you at ease. If you are going to purchase clothes before your trip or even if you are picking them off your wardrobe, simply roll them up and see how much space it will need.
Also, keep in mind that some bulky clothes are worth packing. For instance, jeans might take up a section of your luggage, but they are versatile and can be worn with any top. So, pack them in! Packing clothes in layers will also help minimise the space taken up.
Ask yourself – are the clothes "quik-dry"?
One of the factors that are not commonly looked at but is still important when packing for travel is whether your clothing will dry fast. Quick-dry clothing not only dries faster but is lighter to pack as well. If you are shopping for clothing, look for tags that say quick dry. That being said, there is still no guarantee that the fabric will dry quicker. Sometimes the clothes you have at home might do the trick better. Put it to the test...wash the item and leave it to dry indoors. If it takes longer than 24 hours to completely dry, then that piece of clothing should not go in your bag.
